Custom Exhaust Question (and Introduction)
Hey Everyone. Introduction first... Finally took receipt of my Montego 335 Coupe. So far, I am very pleased with the performance. I've owned an '03 Lightning, and an '03 Evo, but this is my favorite forced induction vehicle to date. I'm still old school as my 1964 1/2 Mustang remains my baby.
Now, the reason for my post... I would eventually like to purchase a full exhaust for my car, but am holding out to see if anyone comes out with a turbo-back version (not even sure if it's possible). In the interim, I was thinking of having the local shop do a simple muffler swap. I'm looking at a set of Magnaflow mufflers from summitracing.com ($87/each). I'm not expecting any significant performance gains (again, waiting for turbo-back), but am just looking for a more aggressive tone... for now. Here are my questions: 1) What is the inlet-diameter (ID) of the stock mufflers (don't have a caliper tool to measure). 2) Would you reccomend a off-set inlet and a center outlet? If not, what does everyone reccomend for inlet/outlet configurations (looking for the minimal amount of additional welding/modification). Thanks in advance for the help. |

Welcome to the boards from a previous lightning owner. So far it looks like the only turbo back option is expensive. Try searching the exhaust forum. I think the stock exhaust is 2.5" but it has some nasty crimps. BTW are you in the military?
