BOV
Has anyone put in a Blow off value in a stock 335i e92 without having any mods to my engine such as chip, intake, exhaust etc... Did anyone get an error codes or would it mess up the car? I really want the whoosh noise but don't want to do anything else.
Please let me know if anyone has done this or if they would advise this? thank you |

I've ran my car with just an intake and cp with my HKS BOV for the first three months and it ran just fine. Actually got better throttle response and the sound you're searching for. Just make sure everything is secure, you'll get a misfire code and and some shuttering if your cp pops off. If you tune it later, the whoosh will get louder.

The real question is... Are there any benefits? Do the turbos get damaged from returning pressured air? Or is it not needed?
Is it just purely for noise pleasure? Best, |

some say it discharges air fast then the diverter valves i will admit that it felt like the car would "seal up" or go into boost quicker and when i would let off the hks would let everyone know i was a big boy. but i advise you to get a charge pipe that attaches to the throttle body like stock with the c clip

I bought the Synapse BOV and charge pipe combo... IIRC it was about $450. At the time I was running an AMS FMIC and SSTT and that is all. I DEFINITELY noticed increased throttle response and I do love the sound. Plus, it is rated for up to 100psi so I don't worry about shredding my stock rubber diverter diaphrams and I have 0 boost leaks. The car just seems to run better now, I truely believe that. I have nothing against diverter valves either, if you prefer the quieter sound... but I really recommend getting rid of the rubber/flexible charge pipe and the plastic/rubber stock DV's.
My kit connects on both ends with silicone (3-ply I guess) hoses and T-bolt clamps. It won't come off. I do have an OCC as well, although I think it leaks and I never have to empty it, at least the oil isn't puddling up in my intake Zeph |

Thanks everyone for the information. I think i may go with the HKS BOV and figure out which CP i need. I hear HKS is one of the best BOV out there, but not 100% sure. I'm just hoping it doesn't damage my turbos or anything else in the car.

AWE Tuning makes a BOV kit that fits in the factory charge pipe just like the Helix kit. You can order it through the Helix website IIRC...

I wouldn't say the "best" just the loudest. You can hear the chirp from it a mile away. That's what you want right?

Best? Define best...
There is really no benefit to a BOV on a stock car, unless you find a noise a benefit. I would look into the ER charge pipe with any BOV you choose. I personally like TIAL cause they are a quality BOV, not to say that others arent though. |

The ETS charge pipe / TiAL combo is what we sell most customers. No issues, works great, looks great! ETS has great quality stuff, and its made in the USA!
