Lime Rock's Christmas Special: A Grand a Day to Drive Your Own Car!!
"For $995, you can drive your own car at high speed - with a private instructor sitting "right seat" - on Lime Rock Park's iconic race track."
http://www.onehotlap.com/2011/11/lim...grand-day.html It's comforting to know that the fee includes liability insurance to protect the track itself but too bad the 5-series owner pictured above would have to buy his own insurance separately (optional). And for a grand a day, the food and drinks at lunch better be damn good! I'd like another free Shirley Temple, please. Does that private Club Chalet offer a full body massage with happy ending as part of the package too?

The promo is for a track day some time in 2012. LRP's press release targets Christmas shoppers. It's that special gift your spouse will get you for Christmas

I received the LRP e-mail today. The price includes 4 full hours of track time (240 minutes on track). Since the average HPDE at LRP costs about $325 for 4x20-minute track sessions (80 minutes on track), then $995 for 3x as much track time is a fair deal. I also suspect that the track won't be as crowded as a typical HPDE. I’ve never gotten lunch, professional coaching or liability insurance thrown in for my $325 at a club sponsored HPDE event either…

"Track Day car insurance is recommended (though not required) and can be purchased through...". The liability insurance is for the track, not for your car. You can also get open track days for way less than that. PCA RTR is running one such event in 8 days for $350. Bad deal all around |
