So I just got my windshield replaced...

Rock hits windshield and gives me a chip. 3 weeks later its a 9 inch crack.

Dealer replacement quote: $1300 (500 parts 800 labor, lol)
Safelite replacement quote $900 (840 parts, 60 labor)

or do what i did, buy all the oem parts from bmw for 550 after delivery, and have safelite do the install for $100. Total cost $650.

Any wind noise or leaks? Good luck, I hope you don't have any leaks.

Cool. BTW do you have the Premium pkg? If so do the rain sensing wipers work fine?

FYI, premium package and rain sensors are completely unrelated. All US spec BMWs get automatic rain sensing wipers.

Ah thanks. My bad, I was thinking about auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

At the dealer, I paid $657 for a new windshield. That was with the rain sensor. All oem parts. Both the quotes you have are BS. The dealer especially is ripping you off. Sounds like you made the right decision.

It included the windshield, rain sensor, and the required seals. I do have premium. No wind noise below 100mph. One trip to higher speeds developed a small wind noise but i am not sure if that was there before since i dont spend much time over 100. No rain yet to be able to tell on leaks.

In ohio they are not required to do so, it depends on your insurance. Mine would only pay for a repair and would only pay replacement costs above the deductible.

Had my windshield replaced last month due to flying ice off of a car and was taken care of by the insurance with no money out of pocket!

State Farm did mine about 18 months ago for $50 or $100. The guy who came out was semi-retired so really took his time on a Saturday to do it right. Haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood)

had a crack in my e90 windshield. I think that they are very thin fragile windshields!

I would not feel too comfortable having this type of work done by anyone other then BMW... Anyways I had it changed and my insurance paid for it/ about 1400$

I have only had my 335i for three weeks and have had three cracks in the windshield due to rocks. None of them were very hard hits leading me to believe the glass is very thin in order to cut down on weight or balance the car. This is my third BMW and I have always had rocks hit much harder without this issue. Has anybody else had this issue?
