Will a Stock M3 Exhaust Fit in an e90?
hey all,
I need to fit my stock exhaust in my 335 e90 for transport. This one does not have fold down seats (why it was an option, I don't know). Does anyone know if the stock e93 m3 exhaust will fit in the trunk or back seat of the e90? It clearly won't fit in the e93. Thanks!

I doubt it will even fit with the seats folded down if you had the option. It is also very abrasive with lots of rough/cutting edges. I would definitely not transport it inside the interior of a BMW. I transported one once inside a Lexus SUV with a tarp in the trunk and the seats folded down. BTW, fold down rear seats are an option because not everybody needs them and they add weight to the car. When you order them, instead of a solid plastic seatback, you get two non-structural seats attached to the chassis. This weighs a bit mor, though it is not really perceptible in the driving feel of a street car. Last edited by smmmurf; 11-18-2011 at 08:19 PM.. |

I've transported my full exhaust (including x pipe) in my E92 with the seats down. Just wrapped a few areas with towels and it was fine. But yea, definitely a no go in an E90.

FYI:
"Split folding rear seats and ski bag Like that of the 5 Series, the body shell is now the same whether or not the vehicle is equipped with this option at the factory; the seat backrest itself consists of a “hybrid” wall, a rigid welded steel frame and plastic shell, that is fastened to the body at four points. This shell itself forms the bulkhead and is made in two versions, one with a fixed backrest and the other with this folding arrangement. The plastic shell reduces noise transmission from trunk to interior." |

It will not fit without folding seats, tight enough with the rear seats folded.

I fit my stock exhaust in the trunk of my e90 m3 with the rear seats folded down. Had about 2-3 inches to spare including the sr pipes.

i fit it in my back seat, but had to roll the windows down and let the tips stick out the window a bit...but it worked..just wrapped the tips in bubble wrap where it contacted the door...not to mention some thick cardboard, towels, and blankets to protect the rear seats....
