sound weird sound

hi guys ive had my 320i car for about 2 weeks now and ever since the first day i noticed that whenever i open the door or the boot, there is a very small sound like beeeeep coming from the front of the car.

This sound lasts about 2 minutes then it disappears. I can hear it when the car is not on. Either if i just open the door and leave it for 2 minutes, or after the sound disappeared then i close the doors, the sound reappears for another 2 mins, so forth. Same if i just open and close it straight away. Seems like theres like a timer or something. i noticed the sound is on when the start stop button lights up orange, but after 2 mins when the start stop button light turns off, so do the sound.

I kept trying it out the past couple of weeks and the sound never goes away.

You can only hear this sound when you are at a very quiet place like in your garage. I tried taking it to the dealer but i couldnt demonstrate to him cos the dealer carpark was not quiet. Anyone have similar problems? I tried my friends 320i and he's one doesnt have the sound. i know its kinda small problem but of cos i dont want my car to be faulty.

This why you need a new sound system from Ali Baba's Flying Subwoofers. Absolute guarantee that you won't hear beeping noise again when system is pumping.

wilsonho87, there are auxiliary power systems that run on your car, even after you power off. They can run for up to 5 minutes after you stop your car or after the last system you activate or deactivate (eg, turn off radio, close door, wind down window, lock car)

it could be one of any system preparing to start or shutting down. Amp fan, oil cooler, pump, turbo spooling (not in your car) and a host of other things.

Do you have comfort access installed?

On a serious note, Luster is correct, it is basically the the car preparing to shutdown all systems. It happened in my 335 and it does in my X5 as well, all new BMW's will have this noise. If in doubt search button on this forum is great, you don't need to clutter the Aus forum with a million threads of small concerns.

I think he is getting a little bit of buyers remorse

wilsonho87, buying an ex-demo is great. You dont need to stress about the first scratch, stain, dent or bump.

It's all been done already for you!

Performance wise you are correct pcock, but rrp wise the X5 costs at least 10k more thanks to it's elaborate options. Who pays rrp anyways...

fact of life. you get second thoughts/remorse for big ticket items. just accept the fact that you've made the choice and you'll soon forget about these small issues.

enjoy the car ......

Is that code for it has more room for your cargo (i.e bigger seat), or the boss made you do it

I noticed on mine scratches underneath the front lip only when i picked it up through the reflection on the dealers marble floor. The dealer did offer to take two weeks to fix it. I left it as it was, in reality with my luck the dealer would have fixed it and I would have done it again myself when I frontward parked the car somewhere with a higher than expected curb. If I don't point it out no one notices and I'm sure the first time I scrape my front I won't feel as bad as if the damage wasn't already there.

Buying a non M-Sport innovations pack X5 is an easy 100k driveaway. Options are a bitch mate. There are a few povo packs going on carsales for the 100k mark. All you have to do is bargain like no tomorrow. My car was 138k retail, i got it for much less at 115k, this was when LCI's first came out.
