Question ??? Short Shifter ???

Hello All,

Has anyone installed a short shifter in their 328/335?

I know I want one, is there a good brand?

Thanks,

Has anyone thought about cutting the shift knob?

This is a nice shifter, but I am looking for a Short shifter kit that will actually shorten the throw distance...

That shifter does shorten the distance, it's shorter than the standard knob.

Ok, maybe by 1 degree. I am looking for a 30% decrease in throw. You can only achive this by installing a short throw shift kit.

I might try cutting the stock shift rod and installing a stubby shifter...

That will at least make is feel a little shorter.

Rogue Engineering has a SSK for 325/330. If you do a search you will see that it received good reviews from forum members. They say that the kit for 335 should be release around June. Don't know the timing for 328 but it will come later.

Well thats good! The 335 tranny is the same as the 328... (I think)

They are both the 6 speed sticks.

Can anyone confirm this?

similar but there are is enough variation that you cannot use the same shift kit. I would wait until Rouge or someone else comes out with one specifically for the 335i. Actually, I believe that BMW is coming out with their version of the short-shift kit as part of their performance catalog - no kidding. I would just go OEM if they really do come out with one. if you serach this forum, there is a thread on it. Its supposedly coming out in June.

good decision on wanting to get the short shifter kit. the throws on the stock shifter is way too long and changing the shift knob changes is not AS effective.

been waiting on the OEM upgraded short shifter kit for a while..

Another note to self, don't cut plastic parts on a 50K car, either.
