Awesome, thanks for sharing those pics.

At first I was iffy about the ED - my fiance reallly convinced me to do it. Im going in August to pick up

We should be there for 5 days. plenty of time to do some driving and sight seeing. The extra wait for the car is bothering me, but oh well - Seems like an awesome trip.

Well worth the wait IMO. I will never take delivery of a new car in the states again. Good luck with your ED and have lots of fun .

I noticed you said that you washed and waxed before your drop-off for shipping. Does BMW not clean and cosmoline (sp?) the car for transport?

BTW--awesome pics! Thanks for sharing!!

Im not sure what they do with the cars, but Thomas at Harms (drop off) said that cleaning the car would be pointless cause my dealership would clean it for me. So my thought was it could be 4-8 weeks before it gets clean, and I hit so many bugs. But don't let that worry you from ED.

That is exactly one of my worries . I can't get any 3M protection film installed until I get the car back here to my dealership. I need to figure something out, im so paranoid about that. I'll be trying to clean the car every chance I get over there.

You can't be more paranoid than me. And that is exactly what I did. Almost every morning I washed atleast the front of my car off. And let me tell you, the bugs don't even stick like they do in the States, they wash right off. It'll be fine. There are so many "do it yourself" wash bays around.

GLASIG--thanks for the info. I ask about the cosmoline because that is a wax-type coating that covers the car when its on the ship for transport. They do this for all new cars already, and I assumed the car has to be clean in order to coat it. The cosmoline coating is to protect the paint while in transit. Then when it arrives at the VPC, its stripped and cleaned of that coating.
So now I wonder if they do NOT coat Euro Delivery cars for transport and your paint is subject to the salt air for 4-6 weeks!

Or did the shipping company require you to clean it before transport so they could put this coating on? Did they say anything about this?

They didn't tell me anything about that. And as far as I knew, they only put that plastic paper on certain panels of the car so the salt air will get to it no matter what, but I doubt salt air can get into the crates on the ship anyways.
No matter what the car will be ok. I think sometimes we over think things and we really shouldn't.

Nice report, looks like you had a great time. Now if you would have arranged to do PCD as well as ED,that really would have been the Ultimate Delivery Experience!
