winter tires for 06 325i Sport Package?
The 06 325i sport package came with staggered rims & tires. According to the manual the stock sizes are
F: 225-45-17 R: 255-40-17 My question is, for winter tires can I safely run 225-45-17 square setup all the way around on these staggered rims? I also have a set of 16" e46 (Type-45) rims sitting around which take 205-55-16's... would this be better for me? Note that in Toronto it's rare that I have to drive through 'heavy' snow except in the occasional parking lot, it's usually light snow, ice, freshly plowed roads where I live. These are the 17's: ![]() These are the 16's: ![]() |

Yes, you can indeed fit 225/45R17 on both the front and rear wheels with no problem. Eliminating the stagger in this way for winter use is actually pretty common to do and results in a better winter setup.
