Safeguard Wheel/Tire Insurance question

When I bought my safeguard wheel/tire insurance, I was told no deductible for replacing damaged wheel or tire. Had 2 wheels replaced and was charged $60 and change. Any body else have this?

Thanks,

Marc

There should be paperwork that you can refer to...it seems everybody is sold a different tire/wheel depending on who the dealer is in bed with. Mine was $390 for 5 yrs., yet I've seen people pay 1k, crazy.

Mine is no deductible. I've already ready used it twice for curb rash and they fixed it free. I paid nothing out of pocket

Curb rash repair is covered? Unusal and a great policy. Most exclude curb rash.

My dealer wanted $1900 for a three year lease. Needless to say, I passed on that deal.
Do you have a copy of the original agreement? If it says no duductible then you shouldn't have any trouble getting your $60 back.

My policy was $800 when I got it and covers everything. Curb rash, damaged wheels, tires, etc. I've nicked my wheels 3 times and had it repaired every time for free. I've also gone through 5 tires due to flats and they've all been covered. At $300 a tire installed plus $100 per curb rash repair the policy has more than paid for itself.

Hey Sara, curious, is curb rash a fix/touch-up, or did they replace/repair the rims?

When you think about it, if they want to exclude curb rash, then the owner could deliberately mess-up the rims, which wouldn't make sense....

^This.

Mine was about $500 (paid like 375 for it though).

It has the "Gold Package" which pays for replacement of tire, rim, and/or cosmetic repair.

No deductible. 5-6 year policy.

I've used it 4 times:

Curb rash from pothole
Replaced rim & tire from pothole
Replaced tire from pothole
Curb rash from pothole

It's a fantastic program. Works on ALL your rims, if you have winter & summers like me, this is a BIG deal!

Can you purchase tire / wheel insurance at anytime, or does it have to be at time of purchase? And which insurance covers the curb rashes?

Seems like getting the tire insurance is a good idea especially with the run flats. I just purchased a 2007 335i and plan on using it as my daily driver.

BMW of Alexandria offered me a tire / wheel insurance package (they said I can buy at anytime) for $1100 for 3 years or 5 years at $1295 (from Preferred Tire Care) but it made no mention of repairing the wheel.

I recently picked my car up and challenged them on the policy. I eventually (not THAT hard actually) got them to agree that they could look at the tires / rims before telling me they are covered. I understand their point, people could buy damaged rims or tires and then use a friend's program to swap it out. The most important thing to remember is that each dealer is different... and that they probably DO want you to buy it. I would certainly give this a shot if you have already taken possession of your car / rims / tires.
