Winter Sizing Question

Yes another one of these threads.

This morning i was refused by a tire shop (this place is always out to make a buck selling their overpriced tires) to install my OEM 18" setup (18x8, 18x8.5) on my winter 225 45 18. I've already had these tires on an 18x8 without issue. I understand that the back might be stretched a bit but is it really THAT BAD? Curious minds want to know.

Well in the case of the Blizzak LM-60, Bridgestone approves a rim with of 7.0" - 8.5" in that size. All the tire manufacturers post the approved rim widths on their repective websites.

and that is exactly what i have. Bunch of a** hats.

I found this site pretty helpful in determining the rim width range of a tire's aspect ratio:

Of course your 225 winters will fit the 18x8.5 with a little stretch.

Should definitely fit, I ran the same setup but 225/40/R18's squared setup on a sport staggered wheel set.

While this thread is posted up here, I was curious regarding your sidewall height. I had found someone selling 245/45/R18's square setup and was thinking about mounting on a staggered standard sport setup 18x8 & 18x8.5. Is that even possible?

I used the calculator and it indicated an increase in speed. Only real issue I can see is that 245 width is NOT ideal for snow. I was always under the assumption that narrower tires were better for traction in the annoying white stuff. TIA

stretch is not bad at all. i stretch in both my winter and summer set ups.

and yes, narrower is better in winter
