Wheels
When I do lowering springs I'd also like to do spacers for the stock 17s since I think the wheels are hideously tucked in...
For the AWD, is there a problem with doing a 12 mm in front and 15 in the back? It looks like the back wheels need to come out more than the front to be flush. Mine is an e92... Has anyone done spacers and gotten the stock 17s perfectly flush with the fender? Pictures and dimensions please and thanks |

I'm assuming that you don't you want to run 18's or 19's with a lower et, that way, you wouldn't need spacers at all and 18/19's would look much better with a drop. Also, If you don't have an lci, you shouldn't have much of a problem in the rear running spacers.

thanks for the response.
To be honest, my goals are different than most I think. I really want to do the bare minimum in visual improvements, which is a different approach than most people. The furthest I see myself going to make the car "look better" is lowering springs (or maybe coilovers if things play out better than expected... ie my car lasts longer than I expect it to), and dropping the car at all necessitates a wheel that is flush to the body. so springs/coilovers, spacers, dimisa tips. maybe front OEM aero lip and slotted rotors too. If an unexpected bonus rolls in or something, wheels could come into the picture. It would be easy to sell the spacers and even if I couldn't $250 or however much they'd cost is negligible. On top of that... I am not planning on this car making it to 125,000+ on the odometer. I beat the hell out of it and even though all of the maintenance is done properly, my driving style or personality won't allow me to keep the car long enough to justify doing wheels. I don't really care how long this one lasts... I'll just get another CPO 2008 e92 335xi and transfer the mods from my current one to the next one. After a few visual "bare minimums" (the aforementioned) I'd love to go: 1) oil cooler 2) intercooler 3) Cobb Accessport Stg. 2+ 4) Up the meth system even more (2 250 psi pumps parallel and add another nozzle in the CP in preparation for: 5) NX dry shot and Stett CP + Forged DVs Each of the above performance mods is far more exciting than any wheels could be... maybe because I'm driving and not on the outside looking at it lol. after a novel... back to the question at hand. spacers. what size to put stock 17s flush and do the back wheels require a larger size spacer than the front? Eyeballing it, it seems like they would. If anyone knows and/or has done this I appreciate the feedback. thx |

The rear would need bigger spacers because the rear fenders flare more. Also, I have an XI and I'm running a 30et all the way around on 19x8.5 & 19x9.5. My wheels are flush with my fenders and I could still use a 5mm spacers if I really wanted to. Your engine mods sound like a good idea, I'm more of a looks guy myself...lol!!
