Yes i've used it quite a few times

Mostly to control my music and dictate messages to me as i'm driving and I've sent replied successfully too. It's very useful.

I haven't been in the car when a reminder is due but i can see how location based reminders would be really useful.

So you successfully played music via blutooth from your phone through your car speakers?

I can give commands to play music like "play all music shuffled" or "play something" over bluetooth

but the music is fed into the AUX port.

Siri works perfectly with bluetooth.

In addition, my dealer also sent information from BMW which reads

"We are pleased to announce that it has been confirmed by BMW that the Iphone 4S is compatible and suitable for use with the Basic, Music and Media Snap-In Adaptors currently available for the IPhone 4"

Does it activate siri when you press the phone or voice steering wheel button?

If not then it would require the acrobatic task of opening the arm rest while driving and holding the button down which defeats the purpose!

I thought it meant I could listen to the music from my phone via the bluetooth, so I didn't need the AUX connected, shame.

Still good though.

It depends on what you want to do. If you have 6NR fitted, then using the usb connection or snapin media adaptor allows extra functionality such as display of Iphone calendar entries, twitter, facebook. The plug-in option allows you to control the ipod features on your phone, exactly like the the phone would display it.

Hi there, can any one advise please how on earth you get music to play from an iPhone 4 through the car speakers? I have professional sat nav and the phone connects via bluetooth to successfully receive and make calls.

If I go onto telephone and go all the way to the right under options there is no option for music...am I looking in the wrong place?

iirc configure your external devices > iPhone for (I think) audio or music or something. There's a menu there somewhere. Also have the 'Music' app (if iOS5) open. You don't have to keep it open or control it from the phone, you can just open it and close it before you get in the car. So long as it's there in the background.

Did any of that make sense?

Nope sorry, i dont really follow,...you are saying I think that on the iphone with ios 5.0 there is an option to send the music via bluetooth?

If so, I cant find it anywhere, my BT is enabled via Settings -> General -> Bluetooth -> the switch BT on and I see my device BMW0629.

If I click on BMW06219 then it gives me options to
sync contacts - ON
Phone favourites - ON
Phone recents - On

Other groups
ALL Contact ticked

I see no other option for Bluetooth and music.

In the music app settings under General there is nothing remotely related to BT sending of music....

Can anyone clear up the confusion?

Sorry mate, I just left this one hanging didn't I?

Anyway, no. Forget settings on the phone, it's settings on the iDrive you need. I also thought you needed 'Music' on the iPhone running. What used to be called iPod before they split music and videos. It appears you don't now.

These pics may make life easier.

^^^ Rich, thank you for the above pics they really help clear things up. Sadly though my iPhone doesn't seem to appear under the external devices. It does appear however under Bluetooth.

Under CD/ Multimedia i am seeing cd/dvd, music collection, aux (front), tone. :-( My car is a 2009 and as above does have the professional NAV. Under Telephone it does pair via Bluetooth. Perhaps my version of the software is out of date or I don't have some option built on the car?

Your model is too early. I think the bluetooth audio started in 2010 models.
