Been to the dealership a few time with mine installed, no one said anything. Just keep your stock airbox like onebadmofo stated if worried.

Company numbers aren't verified. Many members have dyno'd stock vs AFE and reported higher numbers with stock, especially without a tune. The more popular proven CAI's are Dinan, Stett, UR, and the homemade Mr. 5 type to name a few.

I've had mine on my car for nearly 3 years...never had any issues at the dealer.

Any intake system will improve air flow and of course increase horsepower/torque gains. The system that you ultimately choose is up to you and you definitely can't go wrong with the aFe intake system. With that being said, vehicle manufacturers are not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket parts are on the vehicle. You're also protected by the Magnuson warranty act which you can read up on as well if you do a quick google search. Dealerships typically do not care if you have an aftermarket intake system on the car and it's safe to bring it in for your standard maintenance with it on the car. However, if you're going in for warranty issue such as blown turbos for example, it would be a good idea to put the car back into it's stock form just to be on the safe side.

If you have been on the boards long enough, you would remember some claims where independent dynos show loss of power with this intake. Companies can tell you whatever they want to sell you a product and can easily scew dyno numbers by taking the worse stock run compared to the best modified run to show the greatest gains. A true test is not on a dyno but in actual driving conditions. IMO the stock airbox with a drop in is a pretty good intake, especially on a road course/highway driving. It's hard to beleive any intake is going to give 7hp gains when some people have run dynos without any filter at all and didn't gain that much.

I'll do it.... again.
![]() ![]() Lost a tiny bit of torque. Sure, it's a negligible amount, but paying $300+ for a negligible gain is retarded. Test Hood up both times. AFE was installed on the car on the dyno with one hour of cool down. With several fans blowing on both runs. You can try to argue for different ideal conditions but both were tested the same. And still not worth the money anyway you cut it. |

I noticed that afe makes a intake for the 335 that has a cone filter inside of there own air box, which there for would make it a cai . Why are their claimed power numbers lower than there dci? Is it because the one with the airbox has only 1 filter? Which one do you think would perform better in real world driving?

I never went back and tested that unfortunately. Sold it for some DCI's. This was nearly 2 years ago.
Still could be said its not even close to the gains they advertize. Or if they even said those gains were on a tuned car etc. Just a heads up anyway. |
