We are really excited to offer Evolve tunes and have had awesome feedback from customers that have gotten them on their car. Now we are looking to expand into the newer BMW models but that also means newer hardware for us. Before we make the purchase of the hardware we would like to gather interest to see who is looking to get tunes on their 335d?

The way these DME's are flashed is by a bench flasher so we would need the DME in house to do this. However this also means people can ship their DME's to us, in case you are not close.

Here is some information about the 335d tune.

Evolve ECU Remap BMW E9x 335d 286bhp
ECU Remap Performance Software with Vmax
E9x 335d 286 bhp, performance approx. 350 bhp , 700Nm incl. V-MAX release
350 bhp, 730 Nm setting available as a no cost upgrade

The testing and development which has gone into the BMW 335d remap is vast with full dyno testing and on road testing.

Evolve produced one of the fastest and powerful (350bhp/730Nm) 335d's in the UK currently with 13.2 1/4 mile. A standard M3 CSL does this on average.

Over 7/8ths of a mile, evolve's remapped 335d is quicker than a tuned (deCAT, exhaust + ECU remap) M3 CSL.

Evolves remapped 335d hit 167mph at VMAX 2009.

The software upgrade was designed and tested at their dyno facility and on road to give optimal performance with maximum safety.
Much time was taken to develop the software to give improved throttle response and factory like drivability with a progressive power delivery.
The end result is a 335d which is significantly faster to accelerate and smoother to drive while at the same time returning 10-15% improved fuel economy.

Cost? I would like to see a before and after dyno's for a US spec diesel. When the dealer overwrites the flash what is the cost to have the ecu reflashed?

Cost would be a factor, but moreover would the dealer be able to see the flash? If so, can it be disabled for dealer visits?

All already mentioned. How much? Dealer visits are also an issue since the car is still under warranty, if you have a way to make it invisible, then definitely very interested.

In the event of a major failure if the dealer digs deep enough they will be able to see that the car has been tuned, so yes, tune at your own risk.

I see that their M3 tune is 799 in shop. I think that includes a dyno pull and road test though.
Although we'd be less labor mailing in an ecu, I'd think they'd charge the same or more since they're the first in the US.

A normal dealer would not be able be able to see the tune. You would need someone inside BMW to understand the settings and tables that changed. I doubt most dealerships are going to expect a 335d to be modified. Its different with a 335i comes in a dealership with exhaust, intakes, and downpipes. So of course they are going to expect you to have a tune.

???

As soon as the dealer connects your car to their computer, they'll see the s/w
version, etc. running on your car. They know about the BMW s/w releases. If
it's not one of those, I'd be seriously concerned about what happens to one's
4/50 warranty.

I'm all for performance - I'll be damned if I'm going to toss my warranty - after
the privilege of paying $$$ for a tune that'll be wiped out by the dealer - when
they re-install factory-approved s/w.

Perhaps this UK tuner can get factory backing line Dinan has?

When you get the tune the software versions are not changing. You have to know what you are looking for. Those who understand the settings and tables within the ECU would – and its only those people within BMW that could say its not standard. Not the dealer level.

If your going in for a update on your DME that has to be done and your concerned about your warranty you can send it back and we can flash it back to stock. Then when it has been updated you can send it back and have it flashed. Also all updates are not going to erase the DME. It depends on what its for.

Dinan's warranties just match the factory BMW warranty. So if you have dinan products they are warranted for the remaining term of the vehicle manufacturer’s new car limited warranty. So its not BMW warranting Dinan parts that fail. Its Dinan matching BMW warranties time for Dinan parts. Otherwise if your vehicle is out of warranty from BMW it is a 2 year warranty after the date of purchase for Dinan parts.

What's the turnaround time to LA, California? I assume we would have to pay for shipping ourselves, so just wondering how long it takes to do the coding and ship it back.

The dealer can see how many times the DME has been programmed, not flashed. When you are getting a tune its not programming the DME so it will not show up as one of the slots used to program.

Depending on the shipping method (ground, next day,etc) it would take us 1-2days for the tune, depending on when we receive the DME to ship it back.

Do you have any information/pictures/tutorials that would help the d community better understand what is involved in pulling the DME for shipping? That might help everyone get a better feel for what we're looking at doing for this tune.

I heard Evolve was working on a remote tune for the 335d like the one I recv'd for my M3. Then we won't have to remove the ECU but instead download/upload tunes through the OBD port via laptop. That's what I'll wait on.

The ECU is locked, so that's unlikely to happen anytime soon. The ECU has been locked for almost 2 years now, too.

I'd be interested in a reflash for the d but, only if it was from a company that had semi local dealers that could handle the flashing, like GIAC.

I'm just not willing to yank the ECU, drop it in the mail, hope it comes back and is undamaged every time the dealer needs to update something in the DME. Luckily the d doesn't seem to need software updates as frequently as my 335i did but, still it just seems like a PITA. Never mind the possibility that if BMWNA were to change the software protection in one of these updates there is no telling how long you might be without a tune that you paid for while they try to crack the protection again.

I'm a fan of reflashes over piggybacks as I've never seen a piggy back that doesn't have some quirks but, it just seems the reflashes for the USDM d aren't quite there yet.

This is a great start to what a lot of us 335D owners are wanting. I have the JBD but definately want a remap that produces better power and fuel economy when I'm conserving on diesel.
How soon will we be able to ship out ECU for remap?
