INPA issues

I'm trying to get my feet wet in this, but am having some issues in the NCS_DIY instructions. I can get INPA to start and have both black circles as seen on the screen. I can read errors and clear them.

However, when I go to the airbag test I get a SYS:0012 error and have to go back to step one in INPA. The same goes if I try to read The footwell module. I get FRM_87 not found, FRM_70 found.

I do know that the serial to USB port doesn't have the FIFO option available to me. Is there another step that I need to take to get things up and running properly?
