EAS - Performance Brake Upgrade Kit - two questions

My car has 55k miles. font pads are gone (computer says 0 miles) and brake fluid needs to be replaced.

1. I assume my rotors are fine, right? Any reason I would need to change them?

2. Do I really need steel lines if I never track my car....just canyon driving and some auto-cross.

Thanks

1. You'd need to measure them to be sure. Even if they have a fair amount of life left of them, you will need to have them resurfaced to "even out" the wear on them and provide a straight, level contact for the pads.
Note that most (if not all) BMW dealerships do not resurface rotors; they replace if the rotors show sufficient wear.

2. Steel brake lines will provide a firmer feel on the pedal since the lines are steel-lined, they do not allow for "flex" or outward expansion. Also, they'll last longer. I would say you don't need them unless a) you are upgrading to performance brakes (i.e., calipers), or b) are anal about top-notch brake performance.

What thickness level would still be okay?

Are all brands basically the same?

ALSO

What's the deal with the brake sensors? Can I continue to use OEM ones or do I also need to purcahase new ones?

Thanks

We have Cool Carbon pads on many of our cars and also have installed with many customers. We see considerably less dust than factory pads (about 50%) and with a very nice increase in performance and ability to modulate the brakes. We use these on the street and on the track with good results.

1. As far as thickness its probably best to get the checked, it should say the minimum on the rotor.

2. Steel braided lines are an improvement over stock rubber lines. They don't flex or expand giving you a little better braking and a firmer pedal.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me.
