That's funny...I doubt anyone is going to trade u unless u add cash on top of that. Also I think u will damage the bottom piece once its removed.

Ure best bet is to paint it or wrap the trim.

thats where my friend got his matte black trim
and where i just ordered my gloss black roof wrap

Woooord, thanks guys. If I get the gloss film, could I take it to a tint shop or something to get it done?

Take it to a sign shop. Most can do vehicle wraps so it would easy for them.
