Short first take: Much less harsh over sharp hits (e.g., seams, cracks, potholes); turn-in precision/ crispness still great, if not quite as sharp; ride is silky; can't say for sure about grip around turns until more miles; straight line grip under heavy throttle seems obviously better. Getting the Conti repair kit for the trunk. |

Do you think it'll be a problem if I use non run flats for the front, and keep the oem run flats in the rear at the same time? |

Recommend you get 4 non-RFT's. The new Michelin Pilot Super Sports seem to be the best tire you can buy. You can find tirerack's test results here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=148. |

If you are going to make the switch to non-RFTs, you should do all four rather than just a pair. Overall though, those who do switch over are often pretty satisfied with their decision.

Switched from the OEM runflats to a set of Michelin PSS non-runflats a couple months ago. Thrilled with my decision. Your spine will appreciate it going over bumps (especially if you've got a sport-tuned suspension). Had them out at the track twice and performance is sweet.

I am in the same process and going non-RFT. I just havn't made up my mind which tire to go with.
I am also pondering going with a performance all season as I don't have a winter set. On my 325ci I had winter tires and used them for one season. The car ran fine with summer ultra high perf tires. I am not sure if the 335i will react the same in the snow! driverman's question regarding steering response is actually very good and I have the same question along with another related question about steering response/performance with an all season over a summer performance tire.

I never tracked the car with the run flats so can't speak to the difference in steering response under high performance conditions. As far as everyday driving goes though, I don't detect much change in handling. The primary difference is a more forgiving ride over bumps and ruts. The car does less of that jerky "shimmying" right and left when going over bumps.
Haven't heard a noticeable change in noise level. |

Was just back on the east coast visiting my folks for Christmas. They live halfway up a mountain and my dad has Hakkapeliitta studded snow tires on his car. Loud as hell and they eat at least 5 MPG off his gas mileage. Made me thankful I don't have to worry about that here in socal!
