Finally pics of the New Car
Well I've had it for a few weeks now but rather than put up more pics of a stock car I thought you all might enjoy something a little different. I've removed the amber reflectors, added aluminum pedals (really like these), tint (notice no problem with dot matrix) and clear bra. I took the pictures so that you could see the clear bra but it's hardly noticeable. It's also not finished as I had a scratch during European Delivery and its just now at the point where we can cover it up with clear bra. The clear bra had a cut right about there anyway.

Question on your Clear-Bra: Was this dealer installed or 3rd party? I just noticed that most of your hood was covered; usually its just 3-5 inches.
Looks great! Love the pedals!! And one more question: the floor mats from the ED, or did you get them from your dealer?

Why are people on this board so damn rude to one and other!? Maybe he likes the wooden trim. It's a custom built/ordered car. He's entitled to put whatever he wants in it. Don't be so critical and rude!
Anyways, congratulations on the car. I hope you had a nice ED experience. The weather has been great here in Cali, so I'm sure you'll be riding around with the sunroof open and the stereo cranked up.

Thanks guys. I like the wooden trim because personally I think it looks more classy. Yes the aluminum looks more racy (is that a word?) but part of me does own a BMW for the prestige. I actually like the wood and am very happy with it. I had thought that the aluminum pedals might look weird with it but actually I'm very happy! I'm not a guy to do too much moding in fact one the clear bra is finished I might be done! Although I am thinking about the glass case and a split arm rest. We'll have to see.
As for the questions about it. Tint cost $250. They did a FANTASTIC job with the dot matrix. It looks great! I've seen people do all kinds of weird things to get it right even one guy spray painted? What the heck? This is just tinting. The installer said all he had to do was heat up the dots before he put the tint on and it comes out great. And sure enough it does! The clear bra is really nice too. Yes you can see it does stop before the top of the hood. The film normally comes in 2 pieces and they install it together. However because I had that scratch and it wasn't finished and dried yet they didn't install the second piece. When its done it should cover the hood. I'm actually pretty happy with it and it feels oh so nice. Although it wasn't cheap. I think it was $1250. That is full hood, full fenders and bumper. They also did a bit over the rear bumper where you would scratch it with things coming in and out of the trunk and pieces down the edges of the doors for the "wife" incidents. Total price with tint was about $1500. Yeah expensive but since I already got one scratch from a rock in Europe and I know what my old e46 front end looked like without it I decided to go for it! Oh tint and clearbra was from Ultimate Shield in Orange. Ask for Sean. PM me for more info if you want. As I said VERY happy with it all! Thanks to for the comments guys! Oh guess I should mention I've already tracked this car and DAMN it's fun!!!! |

Thanks for the info on the clear-bra. Like the idea of full hood as those "tire-flies" of rubber sure mark up the hood after a track day!
Great pictures on track--can't wait to track mine in the fall (!). BTW--your color combo looks good! Every man with his own tastes!

I like it!
I have coral red and gray poplar. Last time someone balked at my color choice, I drove to a rough part of town and threw them out of the car while not taking it out of 3rd gear. j/k I don't get what the problem is with wood trim and red? I'm not sure but I don't think I have that defroster grid on my car?? If I do, I've never noticed it before.... p.s. I like your ED pics, very cool that you picked up the car with your g/f or wife. I have similar pics with my g/f although just from the dealership, and being my first BMW, it was just something to remember. Good luck with your car stateside! |
