Valet map from cobb
Been driving around with the valet map for a few days. Some observations
1. The PE exhaust sound a lot meaner with the waste gates wide open. Lots more popping and burbling. Really fun. Without the power feels and sounds like a riced out civic but fun. 2. Quite surprised by the torque and power of the motor without boost. It honestly feel close to a 328. Maybe some one incl. Cobb can chime in on the power and torque on this map, extrapolated though as it clips at 4k. 3. Bump in fuel Econ as it does not get into the boost tables 4. Would be nice if Cobb released a valet map ver 2 with a 7k red line and call it an economy map. Switching back and forth between valet and aggressive makes it feel like a different car and help with the boredom factor. Wringing out the engine and rowing through the gears to extract power can be fun sometimes. |

To prevent someone abusing it without your knowledge like a parking valet.

for me, valet mode has no power. I couldnt get the wheels to spin at all. Felt very very slow compared to my 330i i had before.

It has never taken me 2 minutes to switch maps with the cobb. Each time is at least 10. Just my personal experience. Even at 2. I don't see sitting at a Valet waiting while my car goes through a series of beeps and flashing lights to switch maps while my wife is standing there looking at me like I'm crazy.
Just saying, I personally won't use it. Just me though. And besides, it's a 3 series. It's not like Valets have been standing around all day wishing that a 3 series would roll in so they can take it on a joy-ride. At least that's the case at the places this "teenager" parks. LOL. I'd be more worried about them curbing a wheel parking or scraping the front end than someone taking my daily commuter on a joy-ride. Last edited by maxipad96; 12-22-2011 at 09:59 AM.. |

might as well take the temptation out.
I worked as a Valet in my youth, and we always fought over driving the fun cars (would have included a 335). I'm not too worried about them running up the engine to the parking spot. It's when the car is cold, and they decide to race the car up to the pick-up area. |

I don't think he meant to call you a teenager. He meant that it's to prevent teenagers from abusing your car.
Last time I did valet was at a very nice restaurant downtown and the valet guy returned my car driving it with the seat all the way back, all my windows and top open, and blasting music. And I could hear it revving around the corner. Didn't pay him and will never valet again. |

Not calling anyone a teenager. But if I have a teenage son or daughter I will not be giving them a 400 hp hot rid to drive around. If they need my car for a night out then the valet map goes in. Don't need that call from the cops or hospital or worse.
It takes me a minute to change maps. However that is not the point. It's about creating an economy or na map for those who like it.

Gotcha. Misinterpreted your post.
Now that I think of it that is a great option to have with kids. I still don't ever seeing myself using it to "valet" my car though. |

10 mins to switch maps? Is that an f'n joke? I was strongly considering the cobb tune because it's plug n play, but of switching maps is that long I dont think I'll consider so much anymore :s

Even when installing new maps with my original stored it has always taken me around 10 minutes.
Have to walk away from the car make a sandwich drink a beer then go back downstairs to watch the extra minute. I'm not sure if it is my particular Cobb unit, but I have upgraded the software to latest via the program. |
