Anyone seen code P0503? Need some advice.
I have searched and searched only one thread has come up with any info whatsoever and that thread was from 3 years ago. I am getting this code and is saying it has something to do with a speed sensor.
It is an intermittent SES light but I don't have a clue where to begin. Some people were saying in that older thread that it is a faulty connection with the procede which seems plausible since it doesn't happen all the time. It also makes it to where my cruise control doesn't work, but that also is only sometimes. Has anyone ever seen this problem or can you guys give me an idea on where I should start to get this fixed? Not having cruise is annoying.

What is the associated verbage for that code? What is the hexadecimal code ID? Do you have a tool to check for codes in any other systems?

That's a vehicle speed sensor code; intermittent. Have you been playing with the wheel speed sensors? Perhaps the road speed signal from the procede?

Yes thats what it read on the OBDII scanner, something like eratic and intermittent speed sensor. I haven't been playing with anything, I've had the procede in running the aggressive maps for 2 weeks and it didn't give me that code until after I changed some of the parameters in map 2 for PWM meth.

If you have a better code scanner that can give the BMW specific hex codes, it may give more information. Also if you can check other systems like the DSC and others, there may be a common problem that lies somewhere else such as a wheel speed sensor or bus fault.

What are you using for a scanner? Basically you need a more BMW specific tool to look into all of the modules that have anything to do with the cruise, ECU, wheel speed sensors, etc.
And I don't have my laptop and WDS with me, but you will have to check the wiring diagrams for vehicle speed output/input. There are two different DSC modules on the E9x, ATE-Continental and Bosch. Both report a combined vehicle speed output via CAN bus, but you may have to check to see whether the DSC has a direct speed output to the ECU - doubtful but possible. If there are any DSC problems, bus faults, JBE problems, you will need a tool to help you determine a starting point.

I have read in some places that it can be a bad connection with the procede and I did modify the harness to integrate the PWM meth. So that has me thinking I may have a bad connection somewhere. Maybe I will start with just disconnecting the procede and checking all connections.

FIXED. I took it apart, checked all the connections and cleared the codes and its not coming back. Tried the cruise control at various speeds and it is working now. Thanks for all the input guys, glad I got that solved.
