Climate Comfort Windsreen

Anybody go with this option and what do you think of it. I know the weather has not really got too hot but so far I dont see a big difference.

I really dont see the need for it unless you are in a particularly cold country perhaps. I find that the windscreen never mists up anyway when you have climate control.
The wires also bug the hell out of me.
My wife's mini used to have this climate screen and it really annoyed both of us. Couldn't help from being distracted by the little zig-zag wires in your vision.

Nowadays a climate comfort windscreen is a layer of heat insulating film that is placed on the windscreen. It is supposed to absorb the heat and thereby making the cabin more comfortable on sunny days. It was a 230.00 euro option and not sure if worth it.

From personal opinion: I do not think we in this country would really benefit from it

I was gratefull for the heated screens I had on my Ford Mundano and Scorpio on many a cold winter morning. I'm surprised more manufacturers don't offer them. The fine wires were never a problem for me.

Regards

Chris

I used to have a Renault Laguna which had one of these 'screens (they have a purple/blue-ish hue on Renaults) and you could quite distinctly tell the difference in 'heat' from sunlight, when the sun moved from directly in front to the side windows.

Not a major 'must-have', but a 'nice to have' - I wouldn't say no (if offered again), and I don't think you'll regret it. I also think it gives a nice hue to the windscreen (I think it is green-ish on Bimmers) and makes the car stand out in a subtle way.

Note that some of the older sat-navs have difficulty initially 'connecting' to GPS satellites in cars with such 'screens. The recommendation here (or so I read) is to switch on the unit and get a GPS signal before you get in the car... it should then keep the connection.

It's the one thing that I miss from my Ford days. The early ones were quite noticable, but not a problem when driving. The later ones have much finer wires, and switching back and forth between my 3 and my Dad's Focus I don't even notice them.

Wish BMW did heated screens.

Does the climate control not have a solar sensor to detect where the sun is shining into the car and adjust the settings accordingly?

Yes I think you are correct. I reckon its an option I could have left out but you know what its like sitting at the dealer desk as he virtually builds your car . It was only a 300euro add on but maybe money could have been better spent.
