Bavauto sells an e90 spare tire kit and m3 spare tire kit. Both have same Rim/tire 125/80/17 size but about $30 difference. What's the difference besides price? Shouldn't the m3 kit fit the e90 model?

Just get the e90 one and save yourself the difference....
I have the e90 and it fits and works perfectly.
