Bad Oil sensor/Oil Consumption/code 2F9E?

I just recently purchased a 2008 e92 335i 6mt with 58k miles. A few days after purchasing the car the low oil light came on telling me to add +1 quart of oil. After adding the quart of oil the oil indicator showed "max". A few days later and only about 100 miles the light came back on. I've searched the forums and someones suggested that condensation can sometimes cause the sensor to misread.
I did what the post said and ran the car on the highway and later open the oil cap and let the condensation come out. After letting the car sit for sometime I checked the oil again and its still telling me to add 1 quart.

My question is what exactly should I do since I am out of warranty? I don't see any noticeable oil leaks and don't think the car can consume that much oil in so little time. Anywhere in specific I should be checking for leaks? Also any other ideas that will maybe allow the sensor to reset itself. The car also threw code 2f9e.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks!

At this point, I would have serious doubts that the sensor is operating properly. I would completely drain all the oil and measure it. If it is a quart low (make sure you account for the oil in the oil filter) then the sensor is good. If there is more oil than what is indicated in the display, the sensor may be bad and should be replaced. Looking at realoem.com, the sensor should be easy to replace but it does cost a pretty penny (over $200 w/gasket)
