PROcede 335i vs. '07 Dodge Charger SRT-8

So, this guy in a brand new '07 Dodge Charger SRT-8 decided to challenge me from a stop light...I guess he thought he could smoke me in my 335i and wanted to pump up his penis a bit.

The light turned green, and I heard him screech out with a slight jump on me as I did encounter just a little wheel/tire spin. With DTC on, I was able to hook up though fairly quickly and we were pretty much even until ~ 60mph; after that I began to pull on him and by ~ 100mph, I was a good 1 CL ahead. :rocks:

I have no idea if he's got any mods on his car but I was actually a bit surprised that it was so close since I have the PROcede; I guess it was b/c he got a good jump on me and only until 3rd gear did I begin to overtake him. I know the Charger SRT-8 is a heavy sucker at over 4,000lbs., and stock(with 425HP and 420 lb.-ft TQ), it's supposed to run 0-60mph in 5.1 sec. I've run and beat these SRT-8's before, so I figured I would walk him, but it was closer than I thought. By the time we shut it down, I was ~ 1-2 CL ahead.

I know he was very shocked and pissed, since I signaled to him to talk at the next 2 lights, and he declined both times...he wouldn't even roll down his very dark tinted window or anything, and no thumbs up...nothing. Oh well, so sorry you lost...boo hoo. He must have been very perplexed and annoyed that he couldn't beat a 335i with his big SRT-8 muscle car...maybe his penis shrunk like a frightened turtle this time....LOL.

Anyway, it was fun, and I wouldn't mind running against him again to see if I get a better launch and take him for 2+ CL's the next time.

I have seen SRT-8 Chargers do high 12's at the drag strip at around 110 mph and the car still had temp tags. Heavy but fast. Stock they can do a 12.8 or 12.9. Its Automatic so even a retard can get good times.

Good Kill!

dont be fooled though... Every time we are at the track these things are only running mid to high 13's and even 14 second passes.... it really depends on the track if they can break 12's...but i have seen probably over 30 of them at the track and yet to see any break 12's.

he's got you on HP but the extra weight of that sled is a killer and negates any HP/TQ advantages he may have. Same reason why the 335 will lose out to equal HP/TQ cars weighing less than it (equal drivers of course)....

He was probably grumpy because he was upset about having just consumed a significant portion of the world's oil supplies...

True. The vast majority I have seen are running low-mid 13s around 106. I have only seen a few crack 12 with 109-110 traps at a track at 350ft above sea level with a DA probably below sea level.

That reminds me of the other day I saw a Ford Shelby GT 500 and got me thinking of how would a PROcede 335i fair against that? Numbers wise, they seem to have roughly the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile time from what I have read (~4.6 and ~12.9 seconds respectively). I'm sure with the extra hp it'll pull away fairly easy over say 100 mph? But from stoplight races like most people do, neck and neck? Now that would suprise the hell out of that driver being that most of the people I've seen with them are the die-hard "I drive american muscle cars only" guys. These numbers may be off but thats what I read. I am no expert and this is all mostly speculation, just throwing it out there

YouTube has Ford Shelby GT-500's running 12.3 1/4mile times. One video shows the Ford racing a 2002 Z06 and crushing it. I don't think we're in that league... Procede or not.

Yeah this was at at Atco But have seen it. Strangely it seems that the
SRT-8 300 seems to post consistantly better times.

A 2002 Z06 (C5 version) is only putting out 405HP, the GT-500 should beat it. Current C6 Z06 is a whole different story, I've seen slips on stock ones with a 1/4 pass at 11.2 with a trap of 127. Very few things are in that league at any price.

But you can't possibly know if the GT500 was stock or not.

Yeah, I figured those numbers were pretty high that I saw. <12.3 makes more sense. Still, with a few more mods in the future, I think it would be priceless to see the look on the GT500 driver's face seeing a little bimmer keeping up with him

Yes... You are correct. Just making the point that we're not going to compete with a Shelby GT-500 without some Major modification. I just watched the TopGear episode of the new Z06... that thing is out of control. Wow.

True... I don't. You'd think those times are possible with 500HP.

You're right and it's nice to see owners who aren't crazy with Procede fever. The 335 is a quick car but there are plenty of stock cars that will lay waste to even the quickest of modded 335's. Hell my Vette is pretty damn quick but I know what my limitations are.

Funny this post came up. I had a similar run the other night, but rather with a Lexus IS 350. The guy jumped on me, and it took me to about 3rd gear to finally pass him. I thought with my Procede I should of walked all over him with almost 100 more horsepower and torque. The only thing I can think of is that my car was not warmed up enough, and the turbo's where being held back.
