BMW Security
Hi there, i recently purchased a 06 330i with the sport package and i am a little bit confused about the security features of this car. First of all, it's keyless and i have the red lamp under my rearview mirror, so i thought that i have a factory alarm. When i lock my doors with the remote the signal lights flash, however the little red light does not. Also i dried holding the trunk release button for 3 seconds to trigger the alarm (panic) but nothing. My questions is do all these cars come with factory alarms? In addition to that, what other security features do they have? Such as immobilizer, tilt sensor, etc...?
Thanks chaps!

Most don't unless it was a custom order
I believe they all come with the clown nose though.
BMW had a policy of putting all the wiring in for accesories up until 2010 or 2011 but they don't anymore due to the economy . I am not sure if this was a World Wide Policy or just a US policy. |

wind down one of the windows then lock the car with the fob. Once locked put your hand through the open window...this should set off the alarm if you have one fitted.

As ctuna indicated, you can always get it from Tischer in the states (getbmwparts.com). There might be other dealerships now in the states that offer it cheaper. You can always contact Mike @ Maranello (cdn) as well and see what he is able to do. The retrofit kit you'll probably need is part #65-12-0-403-658. The kit itself has to be from BMW if you want the OEM system. I believe some others have installed aftermarket ones but then it doesn't integrate with the key fob. The programming of the kit after its been installed can either be done at a dealer or by a local coder.
