the 335i is ok in the snow, just get a good set of winter tires, put some weight in the trunk, and use common sense when driving and you'll be fine. it can be fun long as you're careful

No matter what anyone says, these things are ok in a little snow but any more than a couple of inches of really cold snow and these things are pathetic. I got stuck on the 27th in about 5" of powder on a driveway that is almost FLAT. BRUTAL. Most here will tell you that they are fine......everyones definition of "fine" is different.

Put a set of Winter Blizzark tires on it will go anywhere. I used to live in a ski resort area and was no problem at all.

^ like the above poster stated, it's not great after 5" of snow. However a lot has to do with the tires you get. The slimmer the tire the better as it will "slice" through snow.

definition of snow is also different........I never had any problems in New England....never got stuck, never had to drive below speed limit, never felt unsafe when driving in snow storms....and i often go to ski resorts in Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire. For people in Canada things might be different.
slimmer tires are for deep powder by the way, not good for dry roads or even packed snow, so pretty useless in New England. Last edited by Kolyan2k; 01-03-2012 at 11:53 AM.. |

Blizzard lm 25 and it can handle anything. That's what I use and I haven't ever gotten in a jam here in Germany; where there are more cars than SUVs. It's all about those tires and driving skills. We just drove to the alps for new years during heavy snow and never a problem. By the way Germans still drive at speed during Inclimate weather. Granted I don't do 100 in the snow but I still do 60mph.

Hit Gary up in the tire section. I buy all my tires from him even for my Toyota. They have good prices... Gary@TireRack ask him for e90post discount they have them sometimes.

Stock tires will not work in any kind of solid snow coverage: the car won't be able to climb even a slightest incline. Snow chains on the rear wheels will make it driveable, as long as you are careful. Snow tires will make it drive much better. Basically, nothing out of the ordinary. My LM-60s have been just great in the snow this year. So far, we've gotten 1/4" of an inch and no problems what so ever.

just returned from skiing at Whistler, no worries about driving in the mountains. Went skiing on the Island this last week as well at Mount Washington. The parking lot was the proverbial skating rink, I had more trouble walking across it than driving. Good winter tires are the key and don't start off with too much thortle. Give the tire a chance to get some bite, otherwise you are just going to be spinning your tires. Manual transmission is also nice, as with my e36 auto statring on icy slopes required turning the traction control off, haven't had to do that with the 335 after 4 years of ski trips. By the way what tires do you have?
