Unhappy Taillight bulb help!

Yesterday, my friend and I swapped out my taillights with some blackline taillights I bought a few months ago. Later in the day I noticed that my left taillight doesn't light up when I unlocked my car. I freaked out a little, but my friends assured me that it was a one time thing. Today, I took out the left taillight to try and fix something that looked wrong inside the taillight, but I gave up because it was too difficult for someone like me. After I put everything back together, I put my key in the ignition and my car and it gave me a left tail lamp malfunction! Any clue on what I did wrong??
