Problem With The Light Knob

One day I go into my car and wanted to turn on the light and all of a sudden I noticed the knob is indented. I'm not sure what caused this. All of my lights still work I can turn it but I would rather try and fix it. Is there anyway to fix this? If So can you guys help me out, Thanks.

Garage List
It's supposed to do that. You can gently pop it back out.

Yes, you can use channel lock pliers to pull it back out, just put some tape on each side of the knob to prevent scratching it.

Designed to collapse in the event of a collision to prevent injury to knees/etc.

Something or someone must have knocked it hard enough for it to fall in
