Exclamation Going in for 50k maint. What all is FREE?

So I have less than 1000 miles before I reach 50K miles. I want to use up every bit of the free service I have with my warranty.

What all can I expect to get? I feel like my service advisor would just rush me out and not really suggest everything Im entitled to.

Thanks...

So nothing is free, you just pay for it up front (and BMW makes interest on the money!). If your CBS calls for it, you'll either get an engine oil change, new brakes, cabin air filter, or possibly new wiper blades. If the CBS is calling for none of these services, then you'll go by the 50K mark with no maintenance items serviced for "free". Check your CBS and see what services are do when. If no maitenance items are being indicated when you turn off the car, then none are immediately due, and you get bubkiss. Being that your car is a 335i you should have gotten new spark plugs at 45,000 miles.

Bribe the SA or a technician with beer to give your car a once over or warranty items. Unscheduled.service is tricky because BMWNA won't reimburse the dealership if it's not due.

What he said. Directions for accessing the CBS info (either through iDrive or the BC) are found under "Service Requirements" in your owner's manual. And as Eninty indicated, if nothing is due within 1,000 miles and you have no warranty issues, there is no point in bringing your car in to your dealer.

I think normal plug change interval for n54 is 60K (not like BMW to offer that for free right before expiration). Mine SA did it for me right before 4/50 expired.

no its 45,000 miles. so he should get new plugs. new brake pads depending on the last time it was in. new oil depending on las time it was in. new wipers etc. as other have said it comes up on their computer in intervals assuming you got your plugs changed at 45,000 miles and have gotten everything else changed at proper intervals then i dont believe you will get anything for free at 50,000 miles.

Thanks for your guys imput. I did check my under Service Requirements on the iDrive and everything was good except the oil needing to be changed. I did not get my spark plugs changed at 45k miles. I bought the car last year with 36k miles and have not had anything done to it maintenance wise.

So I will be pressing for wiper blades, spark plugs and cabin filter

100% get your spark plugs replaced, says directly in the owners manual that the "335i plugs should be changed at 45,000 miles"

(328 = 100,000 miles)

They will NOT change your brakes/pads unless the car CPU's is calling for it. Many things are "conditioned based", meaning, sure your brakes are covered... IF you need them.

I got new brakes without hitting the wear sensor at around 45k. The dealership hooked me up. But I did have to fight for my spark plug change. Funny how things work.

There seems to be some confusion re the plug change - but the Service/Warranty manual clearly states 45,000 miles.

They excuse was was my computer didn't show it time for a change. So I just popped out the manual and showed them 45k, and they did it.

So I must admit, I was pretty impressed bringing my car in for the 50 k maintenance I started this thread over. ( maybe bc my SA was on vacation and I had someone who was filling in for her lol) I brought my car in yesterday with 49970 miles, they gave me a 328 loaner, and I recieved my car back today! here is a list of work they completed:
-oil change
-new spark plugs
-new intake silencer filter
-new microcabin filter
-brake flush
-new wipers
of course they did a spot check all over and suggested I needed new tires. my pads and rotors were great and didn't need attn.

At 50k You might consider changing your trans and diff fluids.

(ignore the fuel filter change.)

For most of us, the issue is the size of our exteriors!

Does anyone know? Is there a brochure or something... I am looking for Canadian info if possible. (Is this a US board primarily?) I would like to get something "official" because it's well worth hassle. The main reason I bought THIS car is because it's still in the new car warranty ... help please!

woot! I love answering my own questions:

Canadian Certified Series Warranty Publication

now on to find the new car one.

I was talking a mechanic about the new car warranty and he said "get all the trim stuff done before 80" (80 is for CDN cars) ... any ideas what that is about... because the trim is TERRIBLE on the drivers door. It's that unfinished aluminum 'stuff'
