Why do people put black rims on?

I don't know about you guys but black rims look very odd on cars. I never understood why people think it looks cool. The black rim with a black tire just doesn't work in my opinion, no matter what color car.
What do you think?

As long as there is a silver/gunmetal lip around the black centers i think they look good. All black with no contrasting features/colors looks crappy.

I am with you on that one. I dislike black rims as well....I mean, why ruin the classy stylish look of a BMW with ricey and getto rims...? my .02 cents on that one

there are many more threads here far more deserving of a lock. closing this would somewhat akin to locking your front door and leaving all the windows open.

I like Black rims with a polished lip. I just think it looks very good because I like the contrast on some colors. Then again I hate chrome so that is why they make different rim finishes. I think the chrome looks to bling for most any car.

I do it all the time. I lock the front door at night and leave the windows open on the second floor. What is so strange about that? The house gets cool without AC.

I had to refinish the wheels on my m3 once and decided to change the factory color to a sort of very dark grey metallic (close enough to black) - no polished ghetto lip or anything.

I agree...after getting it I wasn't so sure i make the right choice...after a few years I wasn't a huge fan of it even though I received compliments, still wasn't sure.

black/dark rims =

But if you have them or want to put them on i'd never critisize, I don't care for it - but thats a personal preference.

Needless to say I won't be doing that again.

Just getting others opinions to see what the "overall" liking is or isn't.
