FS: Custom 3" quad tip catback exhaust Benchmade Proper
All,
I am getting out of my car and will be parting it out. The first to go is my beautiful fully custom 3" stainless steel exhaust made by Benchmade Proper. www.benchmadeproper.com I bought this from another member and would like to pass it along to another local. It's truly one of a kind. I had side branch resonators added by BMP to eliminate the drone that is common for aftermarket exhausts. This is one of the deepest sounding exhausts that I've ever heard and there is very minimal drone. I never got around to doing downpipes but am positive that this would have been the best setup for catless downpipes and minimal cabin noise - especially for automatics. The system has two vibrant cylindrical resonators, two vibrant oval resonators, and two capped vibrant resonator for the side branches. It is absolutely the finest quality. The welding is pure artistry. The exhaust was built for Jeramie's 335xi coupe and fits mine perfectly. It will work without modification for any e92 335i. Making it work for an e90 would not be that difficult as there is room to shorten the exhaust after the rear resonators. The exhaust is quad tip and was designed for the Mtech bumper with quad diffuser. I just had my stock bumper cut by Benchmade. They did an incredible job and I never had any regrets about cutting my stock bumper. When my stock bumper goes back on, it will have quad tips welded up. You'll need to have a bumper than can accommodate this setup or be willing to modify your existing bumper. I'm having the exhaust removed next Saturday at Benchmade so they can fab the tips on my stocker. It will be available after that. You might even be able to schedule installation with them after my job is done. The asking price for the exhaust is $1200. This is half of the original cost. It's pricey but it's perfect and will be THE BEST setup for minimizing drone with downpipes. These are the side branch resonators. There are lots of names for this technology but essentially it works by destructive interference of the resonant sound wavelength by adding 1/4 of that wavelength. The sound waves go in, bounce back off of the closed end and cancel out the sound at the joint. The results are phenomenal. Bumper work. These are movies with sound demonstrating the exhaust. This is before and after virtual dyno of the exhaust. It was done on the exact same stretch of road and temps were comparable. The top end improvement was definitely noticeable even on stage 1 Cobb. Higher boost levels would make higher gains because of the flow improvement. |

Exhaust is off. Here are some pix of the rear sections with the side branch resonators. I didn't get a chance to clean them up before leaving.
PM me offers guys. This setup is sitting at Benchmade waiting for a new owner. |
