What do you think? (Mods question from a newb)
Hey guys, I'm a new member, been trolling for a while though and reading as much as I can. I bought a CPO 07 e90 335xi (Sport, Premium) a month ago, and I'm in love. I'm wanting to do a few mods, but I wanted opinions before I shell out $2-$3k.
This car is my daily driver, and it currently has all weather wheels. It will probably remain my daily driver for at least 3 years, but I really like to open up the car when I can, and jump off the line from time to time. If I get the mods I want I will probably take it to the track for fun now and then as well. I want my car to be unique, and I want it to be fast. It's great as it is, but I want it to have a little more kick. I am almost for sure doing the following: - aFe 07-08 BMW 335i L6-3.0L Twin Turbo Pro 5 R Oiled Stage 2 Intake System (with air scoops) - VK MotorWerks FMIC - JB4 - Speed delimiter After that, if I want/need more I would probably do: - BOV - VK MotorWerks Oil Cooler (depending on how oil temp does) - Meth Based on my description of my driving habits and what I want to do, does that sound like a good way to start? Would you add/remove anything, or change any parts? Would downpipes or exhaust be a better investment than anything on there? Thanks for help and input! I thought I read that VK was out of business. Have a set of DPs that don't fit this guy's Xi - they hit the XI's subframe badly.

I would do DPs before intake or speed delimiter.
Tune, DPs, fmic, meth, in that order.

I wouldn't do SLD. if you have warranty work that has anything to do with them checking the cars black box computer, you could get fckd. The top speed sensors are located near the wheel and can't be reset with a BT scan tool or JB4.

If you're not tracking your car, you probably won't have any issues with your oil temps.
Before making any mods, what are you shooting for? If it's just a fast daily driver then JB4, Proceed, Cobb AP, etc, are all good choices and DP aren't really necessary. Just my opinion, but meth on a daily driver seems kind of like overkill. I probably wouldn't go the AFE route for an intake, DCI is much cheaper. If you're worried about heatsoak, get a true CAI. |

you will need suspension mods cause you will want the car to handle the same as it goes.

My goals are to just have a high performance DD that can give some other performance cars a run (or leave them in the dust) if someone wants to get squirly at a stoplight or on the highway. I figured the AFE intake would be a good middle ground between a DCI/BMS tube and a true CAI, both in performance and in heat-related issues. I don't want this to turn into another DCI vs CAI vs BMS vs etc, but I'm open to general opinions about cost vs performance with my specific goals. Meth would definitely be the last mod I would do, if I did it at all, after any suspension mods I would make even. Thanks for the help guys, and for making me feel welcome! I'll get some pics up sometime soon (if I can wash it and keep it clean without the weather shitting on me here in central OH). |

If I'm not tracking it would this be something I could leave off without really losing anything? Top speed with it is around 155 mph right? That's probably enough for me...

I havnt heard anyone mention VK parts in a while as I think they are out of business.
I always recommend my power packages for combo deals. Comes with your choice of tune, BMS DCI intake and ETS Intercooler. Downpipes would probably add more power then intercooler at first. Of course we could always package a deal to cater to your request but those are the most popular things sold. |

I don't know what u mean by leave off but yes the top speed is 155 on the sports and 135 on the non-sport models. Just stick with your 155 top speed IMO. It's fast enough for a 95% of any races you'll prob due. Besides I'd recommend better suspension if you're going to go over 155 anyways.

No need to drop thousands off the bat, just get a tune first, I'd probably go Cobb for ease of installation. When that's not enough, spring for an intake, downpipes, meth, FMIC in that order. If all that isn't enough get upgraded turbos or nitrous. Probably the best order of upgrade IMO.
