(n55) JB4 Stg 2 - Map 5 - What is it?

What's the official/unofficial word on Map 5?

The spreadsheet lists it as "auto-tune".

I've been running it for about 2+ months now on 93 octane.

My a** cant feel much if any difference doing pulls in that or Map 1. They both feel identical.

Is the n55 Map 5 just the same as map 1? or is it going to adjust the tune based on what octane I have?

Thanks!

Just for reference: I'm running a stock n55 motor with only the JB4 Stg 2 added to it.

* I know I could just email Terry, but I'm sure there will be other noobs cruising by here with the same question at some point. Hopefully this bubbles up quickly in their future searches.

"It's there but not optimized. Probably slower than map 1."

Direct quote from Terry in an e-mail I sent to him asking the same question.

No, it won't do any harm. But it has the timing targets for an N54 loaded so the auto tuning is a little conservative since the N55 runs less advance normally. It's a good map if you have questionable fuel quality but for general use map 1 is faster most of the time.

Mike, any idea if it's causing any harm though? I get a little bit of a rough idle from time to time... could it be that map5 auto adjust crap going bonkers?

Thx I'll switch back to 1 for the time being.

What can I run, without any additional mods, with 100 octane in the car? Any of the other maps safe or should I get meth/DP for the tunes in the other maps regardless of octane rating?

With 100 octane race gas you can use map 2. If you have a down pipe to go with it you can use map 7.
