(battery Discharge?) if I dont drive the 08' 335 for 2-3 days???

I have a 2008 BMW 335xi 2dr, fully loaded. I noticed if the car sits for 2-3 days the battery gets low some how? The car will still start with no problems but I keep having to reset the date and time, and the "!" indicator shows up and on the more detailed side the service options in the navi screen says a generic mesage something like "batter discharge, something is draining the battery when it's off?"

I called a few BMW dealerships, one dude said change the battery, another dude said get a bettery tender? and this is so common, because the car has so may electricals in it the battery is usually never off 100%?

Is this true? Do I need a new bettery? Or did bmw do this to where I am forced to drive my car all the time! LOL

Anyone have any input? What the heck????

I left for my vacation once for 4 weeks during summer and my car did not have any problem with the battery. I didn't use any battery tender or disconnect the batt. How old is your battery? Mine original one last 5 years.

yes, BMW made it like this. Its quite a common feature; not just on BMWs... it's on Pintos and Chevettes too. (BMW *copied* this!!)

OP, you just need to wait longer before driving. Try waiting more than 144 hours between drives. The less you drive the better... for everyone.

...and yes, I'm kidding about the 144 hours!! --- it's 300, like the HP!

I have the same problem with my 2008 335i, especially in very cold weather (below -25C). My battery (and yours) is likely near its end of life. I have put a band-aid on it by charging overnight with a battery tender, twice. I was told by my dealer that there is a lot of draw from various electronics on the car and supposedly the life of the battery is shorter than on lesser equipped cars. I got 7 years life from the factory battery my old Taurus.

BTW, I do not think that the response from the person above was entertaining or funny in any way. The original poster is just asking for help and if you have nothing constructive to add, then do not reply. Thanks.

You need to chillax dude. Clearly that part of his post was was clearly joke, so I continued on the joke.

If you have a dial called "seriousness" you should turn it down... alot.

Seems more people are ready to think people are picking fights then joking around and having fun (with not against the poster). Too bad. I guess our evaluation of how we see someone's post says alot about who we are.

Peace. Love. Horsepower.
