Harness for base audio system. HELP!!!
Ive sent Technic a couple of pms but no answer. Does anyone have/know of a harness i can use? Or how to contact technic? Also contacted VP (musicarnw) but they only sell complete packages, no spare parts.
FYI: Base audio, no amps, adding a DSP and an amp, changing all speakers and adding tweeters.

I do have a us address. My sister lives in miami and you can ship it there.
Quick question. The harness for the base audio system connects to the back of the HU or to some other place?

This harness only provides a 4-channel connection as the underseat woofers are connected in parallel with the front mids. To separate the woofers from the mids -to be powered by separate amp channels (6-channel amp)- then new wires need to be run from the amp to each woofer. They are not included with the harness but can be provided at extra cost. PM for details. |

Hello Technic & fellows!
I'm in the process of planning to update my E90 base audio a bit. The car has porf nav and IDrive. I'm not so much worried about the EQ curve as our roads here in Finland are like hell, so that wont matter to me. I would like to add: A: - DLS R4 in the front - use oem subs / SWS8 if i get them somewhere - preferably a pnp amp (Blaupunkt THA475?, i don't necessarily need rear speakers) B: - or then i could take this set to complitely change the fron end http://130.com.ua/en/product/car-spe...-bmw-one-line/ - amp - Is it doable? Will the impedances work with each other? - Or can i get a pnp harness from somewhere and use a 6 channel amp and just draw new lines to the subs? (and can they in this case be the oem ones?) I'm planning to spend under 1000€ (~1200$). Thanks! |

The Gladen/AudioSystem tweeter crossover has 4 adjustments so it is possible that you can get away with a decent sound without correcting the OEM HU high level EQ output. That or you can code your OEM iDrive to output HiFi (best solution and it can be done remotely by forum vendor BimmerTech). The XD600/6 can accept high level signals up to 4VRMS/~6V and can sum the iDrive front and rear outputs to create the woofer channels. That should work if you keep the gains at minimum. I can provide you with a custom Stereo 4/6 (4-RCA outputs, 6 speaker inputs) harness, amp cabling and the OEM speaker connectors for a 100% PnP install. Please use PM for details. All this should be less than $1200 if you look for deals. |

Hi!
Actually i allready PM'd you, once i got the chance. The only problem in the option B are the pricess, which are totally different here in Finland. The JL Audio amp for example costs 499€ = 640$ and the Gladen set is about 500$. They really aren't usual parts here, so finding good deals / used items is practically impossible. In comparison, i could get - the DLS set under 200$ - Blaupunkt under 300$ - and e.g. Audio System AX 08 subs i could get under 300$ So there's quite a price cap allready... That is why I would just like to use a normal 4way amp, which would drive fronts in 4ohms and subs at 2ohms in paraller. The rears can be played by the HU or not at all, couldn't care less. If I was to do this in pieces (to save money), could I first change the DLS set into the doors as it has the same impedance as the original 4" mid and continue with the rest of the set later? Am I doomed or what? |

One thing about the THA amps, they have reliability issues. I would consider the Alpine MRX-F35 (4CH) or MRX-V70 (5CH). Prices in the USA are between $190 and $260 (eBay). |

Ok, gotta look into those.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739955 I just read the above topic and started thinking. Is it better to use a seperate harness or tap the signal as mentioned above? If using the latter, could I use all "normal" A/B amps, as long as they have a high-level (speaker) input? This would make the job a lot easier. Edit: the size or the fitment of the amp doesn't have to be oem-look... Last edited by Kannu; 09-09-2012 at 12:37 PM.. |

You've got me there. (a bad habit)
Ok, i'll then get: - the DLS set - new subs - a decent amp with a high-level input and the rest should be easy peasy using the threads in here. Thanks for your help! |
