N55 Software update - down on power

I had the software in my 2010 335i updated a few months ago, and noticed that it felt smoother and more refined, but perhaps lacking in power. I mentioned it to a friend with the same car, and he had also noticed it after the upgrade.

I asked my SA at the dealership today, and he said that it adjusted the waste gates to reduce failures of the turbos, and that it's "just slightly reduced the power". I wouldn't notice a slight reduction using the butt-dyno, so I'm wondering if he's understating the change.

Anyone know anything more about this? Is it all in my head?
