Yellow Oil Warning Light . Plese help

hi i changed the oil to my car in october and i have been chanigng oil myself for a while. its less then 5 months and it shows the oil level less then min now? i dont think there is a leake cuz if there was i would see a puddle or something . what should i do just do an oil change. i m worried if i open the screw next thing you know i have all the 7 quarts and for some reason the sensor is messed up its a 2006 330xi.

A qt low after 5 months is normal.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

ok so i changed oil in october and i may have drivin the car for about 3000 miles . so the light came up when i drove the car for 15 min and was about to get home and park so i did. then i checked the oil and it shoed less them min oil level and i gues it said +1 qt. so after an hr i went and started car and checked again and now it says its in the middle of min and max mark and says OK? any more suggestion or should i just add 1qt of oil in it? thanks a lot guys

Could be moisture screwing up the sensor. Run the car on the hwy @ ~3k Elms for about 10 mind and then once your done open the oil cap to let any moisture escape. See if it returns.

lol i m not sure what 3k elms means but u want me to do that for 10 min.. and after tht how long shouldi leave the cap open for..?

I just did an oil change and mesured the oil that was in the car and i m sure it was over 6 qt for sure almost 7 qt. so i dont think i the oil is leaking or being burned. so i will keep an eye out and see if it shows me low oil again and if it does what should i do ? get the sensor changed? thanks for alll your help guys.

Same as you

It just happended to me, i stopped by dealer, they said i dont need to change the oil, the reason the indicated lights on is oil level. They just fill up the oil for free.

ok so like i said i did the oil change myself yesterday and did measure the oil that came out. the way it was displaying on the reader once it said less then min and need +1 qt and other time i did it said ok. Any way so i did change the oil and did not do the reading till today . and today it shows a little more then min and says its oil level is OK. when i use to do the oil change it would show it on MAX ? What do you guys think should i get the sensor changed or any other cheaper alternative . i mean i can ignore the fact that it sensor and its not that the oil is low or n e thing? please help thanks

I would change the sensor.

ya its been a week or more that i have changed the oil and it show as max i will keep an eye out and c hwo long before it starts to show the warning sign then i guess i will have to change the sensor.
