Question aFe Performance Air Filter worth it?

Thoughts on aFe performance air filters? I like the fact that it doesn't need to be replaced, just cleaned. Is it worth it or should I just stick with the OEM filter?

Just put a new OEM paper filter in every oil change and dont worry about it. You wont be able to tell the .0076 hp difference.

Thanks for the advice. You're not the only one to recommend that. I think I'll save the money and stick with OEM.

Yes! if you can get it for $460. You will love this new intake, especially when you have AA tune and exhaust! It's by far the best intake out there, performance and sound!!!!

From reading lots of threads on here, it sounds like the only difference with drop-in filters is the media, of which it may or may not be worse. Performance gains seem to be slim-to-none, sound isn't likely to change with the same closed airbox configuration, and you run the risk of damaging your engine with a non-oem filter. I use it, makes for a much better intake sound, but not until I also modded the intake to add a second intake tube to the airbox and routed it to the brake duct behind the bumper. A lot of work but the nice intake sound is worth it for me, yet probably not worth the trouble for many others.

The intake remains enclosed, with better throttle response and rev as a result. I know it is better because I had driven two same model loaners already, both nearly new but no comparison to mine.

The filter has been washed three times already, good as new.
