upgrading the headlight bulbs

hiya

im seeking advice which bulbs are best for upgrading the front of my car. as standard it comes with the xenon lights which are great but ive seen a few posts about changing some bulbs to change the rings from yellow colour to a nice white. ive looked on ebay and they are a wash with all sorts and i dont know what im looking for so im seeking general advice in this area please guys. also any pics from before and afters would be cool to see what the real gain is.
