That is a Part of the Front Subframe, It is held by Six bolts to the Body. I have used it as a Jack point and never had any problems.

I use that all the time with no issues. IMO, a great way to get the front end up and then put jackstands on the jack points right behind the front wheels.

I have used it. Be careful what you use on it, it will bend.

Yes, that is the lift point. If you are still unclear, remove the plastic underbody shield and look at how the car is built. Just be sure and use a floor jack to spread the load over the whole piece. Set the parking brake prior to lifting, I also put a wheel chock in place. Put the vehicle on jack stands before you get under it.

if you see the link johnniewalker provided, it shows a differnet type of jack point, which is the one my old 325i e90 had. I used it once with, and metal saddle which has 4 alignmet "stubs" which stick up over the surface of the saddle. The actual "jack point" crushed a little in the center, which may have happened because the stubs may not have been aligned properly, but i cant say for sure. I would suggest using a piece of hard wood between the jack and the jack point, if it will fit. You may have to take the plastic off to do it. Ill tell you form looking at the photos you have, that jack point looks more substanital than the one on my 325i (which you can see in the link)

This jack point looks slippery. What kind of adaptor on a trolley jack should i use?

Piece of rubber would work, but the jack points on the side work great. I use hockey pucks to lift the car under each square "foot"

Yes it is a jack point on XIs too. But good luck getting most jacks that far under the front end. Make sure you have a long low profile jack. Search my name in the DIY section. I have a similar photo of that jack point.

^ It's easy. I drive onto a couple 2x4's and have no problems getting to the front jack point. I'm lowered as well.

Yes I have jacked my car up from that point a couple times as well. I have a low profile aluminum jack. Use jack stands if you end up getting that far under there!
