engine rattle

ive got a rattle which I can hear up to around 4k revs, its only present when accelerating though, which makes me think it could be something attached to the exhaust maybe?
anyone got any suggestions before I take it to a dealer?

disappears a little as the car warms up, it could be present over 4k revs but I cant hear it. doesnt seem to be any loss of power but its bloody annoying.

standard 325i engine, not a turbo in sight
