thanks man! It's not a supercharger or anything but there are slightly noticeable gains.. under normal driving conditions there is no increase in sound IMO, if you want sound go with aFe or Ingen, I wanted to stay OEM though so I was torn between BMW Perf and this. I spoke to my mechanic buddy at BMW and he said go with the air box! As far as performance, its a NA car so there aren't going to be crazy gains however I do feel that it pulls harder after 3,000rpm. It's surely noticeable. Also in DS mode and while under full throttle it screams at you a little but nothing crazy... oh and pulls harder too. I feel like it was worth every penny spent personally. But you have to order the k&n air filter with it, ECS sells them...

Easy install! I did install my euro airbox for about 20 minutes. All you need is a long flat head screw driver, 10mm socket and a torx T25 and you're done.

You don't need a DIY. It bolts up to factory mounts. The hardest part is swapping the MAF sensor. 20-30 min tops for the whole install.

Is it a struggle to get the MAF sensor out, or is it just lots of wiggling?

My suspicion is that if you read the DIY on charcoal delete, it'll show you how to remove the current air box, and the new one pops in similarly. They're not terribly complicated systems. Just be careful with the MAF, they're sensitive

I have, but it didn't really talk about the MAF sensor other than it being very fragile.

it's pretty easy, just do NOT break it... it uses the same bolt that the rest of the air box does so it's pretty easy to get it out..
