Latest Software
Having the car recoded today just wondering if anyone knows where I can get the equivalent of "release notes" for the build and also what the versions should be.
Just wondering if there are any obvious changes in features between the 2009 1st quarter and current software Car is a 320D E90

There are no release notes BMW what actually newest software change. My clients ( im doing coding and software update via Internet and selling newest software) usually feels the car is a bit more responsive, a bit quieter and less vibration.

I still don't really understand why these updates aren't free, and why they don't just download straight to the car. After all, most Mobile Phone makers (and many others) regularly update their devices for free, why can't car makers?
A lot of our cars have mobile data connections built in so I can't see it being beyond the realms of possibility to be able to do this.

They are sort of free, if it has any sort of issue they'll stick the latest software on first.
Or if its required to fix a fault or safety issue it'll be free too. Other than that, if it ain't broke as they say. |

That's true, but I'd like to see improvements even if it's not broken. There are always tweeks which can make your use of the car more satisfying. For example, I had an upgrade a year or so ago which meant that the random play option on the stereo stayed on even when I turned the car off. It's a small thing but it made a big difference to me!

its true a pain if car is under 3 years old when serviced they should be included, but then Apple charge for each revision of their software, microsoft doestnt. So life as we know it is not fair.
I have to say since the update car is definelty smoother, even the clutch action for some some reason is not as notchy as it was. All in all a great results all thanks to a nice deal from Anneka. One thing I wish it had was a option on the radio for phone ring / tone. The default one is a pain and setting volume on it can only be doen while ringing. Whats more if you turn up voicecall during the call to hear it better it turns up the ring next time. Bit poor. I dont think it has changed. Only connelation is the noice cancellation the amount of time people dont realise I'm in the car when they call me is staggering

I enquired about having the USB retrofitted. I was quoted £399.99 for the retrofit but they said I'd have to pay £120 to have the software updated first.
I said that I'd have the retro fit if they updated the software for free and they said no. |
