also, i think you should add esort 8500 to the equation as it's a lot more common than the new 9500.

I got the passport. It saved me alot as well. If you do the research on the internet on the passport radar, you will find that its the best out there.

id choose the valentine. The Passport just isnt worth it for the money.
My old shop was a distributor for them. He also had a few friends who were State Troopers. They decided for shits and giggles one weekend to test this thing out to see if it really works. What they discovered is that the jammers in the front and back have to be perfectly parallel with the ground. In his case, the rear plate was angled up slightly (he had a Saleen S281)....the laser would hit the plate, causing the jammer to go off...the jammer signal would actually go OVER the radar gun, and the gun would still pick up the speed of the vehicle. So the passport was working as designed, just the jammer signal wasn't being picked up by the radar gun. They tried various ways to get the jammer to sit level, but it was always off a degree or two...and no matter what he still kept getting tagged. He stopped selling them and went back to valentine one. |

imo they are both the same...8500 Vs V1 .... people just choose to go with the V1 because of the arrows... I wouldve gotten a V1 however I got the escort as a gift and worked great...

If you want the best radar/laser detector, get a Valentine One.
http://www.guysoflidar.com/march-200...ctor-test.html Spreadsheet of the radar/laser detector results: http://home.comcast.net/~ccaeric6/GOL_averages_MB5.htm The Valentine One is the most sensitive radar/laser detector in the world. All of the top radar detectors were tested in a lab, the higher the number the better it is at detecting radar. Radar detector jammer forum: View topic - Mike B's Sensitity Testing Part II HERE! If you want the best laser jammer, get the AL, LPP, or the soon to be released in the U.S. Laser Interceptor. http://www.guysoflidar.com/march-200...mmer-test.html AL: http://www.antilaser.info/ LPP: http://www.laserprotector.us/ Laser Interceptor: http://www.laser-interceptor.com/index.html |

It sounds like he is not going to do it. I have to admint that was the best idea I have seen intregrating the V1 output into the BMW radio interfaces. That was a great idea. Now sure why he discontinued the product.

The biggest complaint I have seen against the V1 was the directional arrows. For people who drive in areas where you do not run into multiple radar sources from different directions I can see why they complain. But being on the east coast and that is where Mr V1 is from he understand that there are multiple sources coming at your from all over the place and you need to know if it is in front of you or not.
In the east we have those large concrete barriors we can not see over and I have seen where a cop was on the other side shooting the traffic heading towards me and have the signal bounce off the cars on the otherside and make it look like the source was infront of me only to pass the cop and have the arrow switch directions indicating it was actually the other side. The V1 is sensitive and picks everything up, even leaking escort detectors. You will learn how to distinguish the cops from the automatic doors, roadside speed signs, building secruity systems, leaky detectors from the real cops. When my detector goes off 90% of the time I know if it is real cop or one of the distractions. You just learn it from what you see around you at the time. i got my 8500 x50 from eBay used and it is working GREAT. hardwired it and it looks phenomal above the rearview mirror. the v1 is great too but its too pricey. you can get the 8500 x50 for 300 shipped new on eBay. v1 still commands over $350. car and driver both rated them the same.

i love my valentine, it has saved me a bunch of times, and has worked flawlessly from the moment I put it on the windshield. The only time it really works just like a lot of radars is on the high way, It can be annoying to drive around urban areas with it on because it goes off and blinks like a new years eve party but on the high way it is totally worth it!
