Hit a HUGE pot hole F$#%.

I was on 294 south tollway going on to the I88 west and there was a huge pothole I hit. I don't have a flat but look at my tire. Can I call IDOT or someone and get reimbursed? How much is this gonna cost me?

ive done the same. new tire was replace by tire insurance and new wheel was on my own dime :/

your wheel doesnt look that bad tho. when you get a new tire they would be able to tell if it can be balanced.

That will balance out but bends can still cause vibrations even of they are balanced.

Don't ever go to Cleveland. Worst roads I have ever seen, and I'm from Pittsburgh! About 3 weeks ago on my way back from downtown Cleveland I bottomed out my suspension, twice. The first one threw my alignment out and the second brought in back in line, sort of. It is still off but not as bad as after the first pothole.

Run flat will cost you anywhere between 3-4 bills and you better hope your rim isn't either bent/cracked for that will run about the same as above....Feel your pain for it sucks big time,Good luck.

To what I hear you can get money from state or the local jurisdiction for the damage, make some calls to the county on Monday.

Thats what I was really wondering. I was hoping someone here knew first hand. I heard that before but I didn't know if it was true. If it is true I probably wouldn't see any cash for years anyway. They just double the Tolls here in Illinois . 40 cents to 80 cents. They could at least fix a pothole on the highway. I'll call someone in the county tomorrow.

No governmental agency is going to simply hand you over cash to replace your damaged rims. To get cash, you would need to file a suit, likely in your local Small Claims Court and prove that the government knew or should have known about the pothold and that it is liable for your hitting it.
Many governments require prior notice of any potential suit.

I would have no case. Its not like I can run onto the expressway and take a pictures of the pothole and prove I hit it. Its not going to be worth the cost of a tire to go through all the time and effort.

at least a new tire, could also need to re-build the rim.

So it looks like the Tire Rack had a Potenza for $225. I will have it delivered. Will they need do do anything else beside balance the tire? Just take it to a tire shop or Dealer? How much should I expect to pay for all this? Thanks....
