Any ECU updates?

I know many 325i328i owners, as well as 330i owners have been scrutinizing the availability of ECU remaps etc... there are a few (i.e. technik, etc) that offer these remaps at under $1000 with claimed gains of 15-25hp (which i think is highly improbable from a simply adjusting AF ratio's, running lean, etc).

I have also been following up on the superflous threads about this topic -- only to become discouraged from the fact that no one has done this as well as the lack of availability of independent dynos...

has there been any credible updates/evidence that these ECU remaps are indeed worth their value in performance gains?

the most recent one was by AA, and that thread has been dead for a while now, no proof, no dyno, nada, just a "trust our words, it's good" claim

we've been hearing that for wayyyyy too long... i just don't see how ECU remaps can possibly yield so much. I mean, if it was a piggyback, at least there's potential for re-sale, etc... but a simple remap is equivalent to writing a check to charity ... well, at least charitable contributions are tax-deductible, and do wonders for morale...

I'm Still waiting for Dinan. You should put together a compilation of the ones you reviewed. Company, hp & torque claims, price.

i would, but i don't think i would do a good job as i'm very biased favoring the technik unit and wouldn't pay enough attention to finding the details of the others.

Also, from what I've been told by the guys selling ECU remaps, the remap will be wiped out whenever dealer update your car and you have to remove the ECU and send it in to get it remapped again.

A pass through solution like proceed is much better.

i wrote turner motorsports about ecu tuning and 3 stage intake manifold upgrade for the 2007 328 and this was their reply

Hi,

Currently we do not have software for the 328i. It uses a different
engine computer than on the 325i or 330i. I'm not sure you would want to
switch to the 3-stage manifold anyway as the 328's variable intake
manifold should respond better.

Thank you,
