EGR Valve recall
I got an email from BMW USA informing me that there is a recall on EGR Valves and they need to be replaced. Anyone had that done already?

I went in and they said the recall will cover LCI 335d's. They have not received the new parts yet so it's on hold.

That's interesting...335d are all LCIs.

Hey OP, if you're cool with this, PM your last 7 digits. This is what my BMW service manager said when I emailed him:
Good morning John, "I just checked in our data base to see if there are any outstanding recalls for your car and there aren't any. It is possible that your friends car falls within a different production range. Would it be possible for you. To get the last 7 digits of his vin for me to check? Let me know." Thanks |

Last Fall I had my EGR valve replaced with a new part, that also required software to function properly. That may be what this recall is about - you can check out my thread from back then if you're curious: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577143

interesting. I just had a 'service engine soon' light on for a couple days, had a local shop read the codes and it was something to do with the egr system. ses light went back out so i plan on waiting until the next service visit (car seemed to run fine).

Should have been more specific...yes, was referring to N.A.-spec 335d's.
I wonder if the E73 X5 35d is subject to a similar recall...although the X5 has two EGR circuits (HP and LP) while the 335d only has LP EGR. Cheers D.

Sitting in the waiting room now. SES light came on a few days before a Previously scheduled vehicle check.
Technician tells me the car is in need of some programming related to the EGR valve and DEF system. Tells me that if the issue recurs the replacement of the valve is our next step. I'll update once I see their work ticket if there's anything of note. Edit: keeping the car overnight. Will know more tomorrow. Last edited by FormerRotor; 03-13-2012 at 06:37 PM.. |

Is that just for US 35d's? If the UK is affected, that would mean the LCI 330d is affected too, no?

I would check if the part number for the part is the same and go from there.

Certainly, but nothing of consequence,I'm afraid...
Reprogram was performed w/no hardware update and i was given the directive to Return if the symptoms (which in this case was just the SES light) should recur. At this point only time will tell, I suppose. |
