e93 Valentine 1 Hardwire?

Has anyone hardwired a radar detector in their e93 yet? Is it possible to do it up by the mirror?

Please help!

Hard wire

Wired a V1 in my '98 M3.
I believe I got power from the glovebox light.
I mounted it on the passenger visor.
Don't use them anymore- think I'm getting old.

I saw that. But I think the vert is different. Can anyone confirm that the DIY for the coupe works for the vert?

Dude, why the heck do you think E93's are any different? It is the same process..... What do you think is different on your car with regards to this mod! Just follow the DIY and get it over with.

Because the place where the map lights/bmw assit buttom/pass airbag light are located (the place where you pull off the cover near the moonroof button)on the e93 looks nothing like the ones I have seen in the DIYs on this forum. I did this in my 330 no problem and want the V! up by the mirror again (rather than mounting it low and doing the fuse box install)

Then again, seems like all the DIYs are for sedans. Can someone point me to one specifically for a coupe/vert?

How did you install yours in the end?

A lot of people went for switched power in the sunroof controls area of the coupes, but ours does not have that (I've not pulled off the cover to see), but all that's there are the lights, which I'm guessing are not switched power?

No, haven't started yet, but I saw these two posts about someone else who's done it. I still don't know if the wire he tapped was switched or not.

If using a voltmeter, but you don't have an exposed end or piece of wire, is there a way to test things?

There are the two posts you'd need to read: POST 1 and POST 2

I want to try a run the wires down the A-pillar, but I can't figure out how to remove the A-pillar trim. The e90/92s have a SRS airbag in them and you remove the SRS emblem and the screw underneath to remove the trim, but the e93s dont have this. I assume you pull/pry it off, but in which direction? I want to run the power cord from within the roof/headliner space, down behind the A-pilllar trim to the fuse box area. I would tap in the concealed display and power to the fuse box there and then run the CD cord to the ashtray and mount the CD there. Just need to figure out how to get the trim off.

Yep, removed the A pillar on my E93, and all it took was just getting my fingers between it and the windshield and working it off from the top down to the bottom. There are two "finger" type plastic pins that pop into holes in the metal frame. At its bottom, two tabs fit into holes in the dash.

When putting it back, I didn't have the fingers lined up with the holes well, and one snapped. Stupid $1 part! It seems harder to squeeze the lower part of the A pillar trim tabs back into their holes...
